Happy Birthday My Dearest Boy!

The Line was extremely gorgeous!!!! I give the ambience and deco a full 100 marks!!! I luv how they daringly use the bright orangey lights everywhere and how the usage of white colour merges well with the orange!!!! Beautiful!!!!! The bright blue walls and plasmas built into the walls was brillant! And the works came from top designer Adam Tihany who was behind the looks of Spago in USA. The open concepts cooking statons means your food is always fresh cos they only cook in small portions or live when you want them!

No photos cos the place was so classy and packed with rich tai tais and it will be a shame to start flashing cams here and there and peeps dining will think I just came out from tortise island. It just din feel right to behave like some suaku gal. Besides, we werent in a group, it was just the 2 of us.

The food wasnt really that fanstastic but passable and not bad for a buffet spread. I especially luv the dim sum and sushi counter though. The sushi was fabulous! The handrolls was damn yummy!

When we reached there, we were pretty surprised how a big place would be packed on weekends. The whole indoor space can take up to close to 400 diners and the outdoors aint included as well. Singaporeans are farking rich huh? If it werent for special occasions, I wont happily dine at such a posh place loh. Did I mention the place was nearly packed on a Monday night too? I see kids in school uniforms dining with their family too. Good life huh?

Anyhow, we will guided to a seat which I opted to change as the couple next to us were like squabbling over some business issues and it was really funny. The guy was speaking in Mandarin and mind you his Mandarin was filled with IDIOMS! And the lady was defending herself with English. Damn hilarious!

Both D and I walked around the whole place first and settled with sushi as our first stop. We noticed how quiet the salad bar was haha. Who pays so much to eat vege??? I had california makis and futomakis with one california handroll and one egg roll handroll. SLURP! Very fresh though the seaweed was kinda tough to chew lol. For salmon and raw fish lovers, they have fresh pieces cut but we both gave them a miss. Never a fan of raw stuff.

Oysters, prawns, mussels and alaskan crabs were placed neatly but we gave them a miss too. I luv prawns but somehow cold prawns seated on ice cubes dont look tempting enough. Next pit stop was the dim sum counter. The siew mai and har kow very niccccceeee!!!!! They had honey chicken pieces which I totally dig it!

D went to have roasted duck noodles later and I asked for a tiny weeny bowl of laksa. Not bad though not fanstastic. D tried the Indian counter too and ate the nasi goreng too but I was already half full after my sinful crepe. It was filled with chunks and chunks of chocolate! I then pour mango sauce all over it. Simply irresistible!

There was this live grilled station too, I just tried the grilled chicken and crayfish. My boy forced me to try the grilled fish whereby everyone was waiting for it. We were never fan of fish either but after trying it, hmmmmmmmmm….. VERY FRESH! Now I know why everyone was like waiting patiently for it to be done. There was pasta and pizza counter too, in fact quite a number of food waiting to be explored. But is tough to eat what you actually paid, and I gave so much food a miss as I din wanna MISS the dessert counter!!!!!

We had ice cream which I still dont understand what that thing was for. It was a large metal piece like a teppanyaki and it was a very cold board. They will just put one scoop of ice cream on top of it, pressed it flat and covered it with your desire choice of toppings like frying the ice cream. Dont understand what it is for???? Apparently, you can opt not to have your ice cream COLD TAW-ED(the name of the process) but freshly from the tub instead. It tastes the same to me in anyways. I had mocha mixed with choco chips and topped with choco sticks and gummy bears!

The last part! The reason why I wanted to go The Line haha. The fondue fountain!!!!!! It was damnnnnnnnnnn heavenly! The mashmalllows was sooooooooooo crunchy! I played with the fondue fountain a bit haha. So interesting! I want one fondue fountain!!!!! There were so much desserts! Cakes, creame bulee, and so colourful! All the puddings, jellies were inside short glasses of different colours and shapes! I enjoyed it a lot!

The whole bill came up to $180+ but the whole experience was worth it! What wasnt worth was the damn watermelon juice I drank that cost a freaking $16 per glass! I just din expect it to be so ex when the diet coke was only $8. Besides, it was just a small glass. Do you realise I could have use the $16 to buy 3-5 huge whole watermelons and drink the juice until I lao sai???? Else I prolly set up a stall outside The Line and start selling at $5 per glass, I also earn like siao?? But then again, what can I expect? Is Shangri La afterall. At least my boy was happy with his meal.

Folks, do try it out for special occasions that is, like birthdays or anniversaries. For dinner, it is $65+++ per person and $45+++ for lunch but without oysters and seafood.

Their service was superb too! Our water glasses were never left empty and our napkins were folded neatly each time we return with our food. The staff were very attentive and friendly.
After the heavy dinner, I was totally bloated and I think my top expanded a bit haha. We rushed to Beach Road for a show but was late by 10mins. Skipped the whole idea and walked to Chimes instead.

Decided on Insomnia and geared with my lychee martini while watching the live band performed, it feels great! I always enjoyed live bands and yesterday band was really good! I always think Insomnia and 1NightStand look alike! Though I had been to Insomnia a couple of times but this was the first time I totally enjoyed myself. Maybe cos my partner was my boy. Chilled there for close to 3hrs before we headed home.

We din do anything special or that much but I am glad we both enjoyed each other pressence and hopefully D luv his day.

I love you dear!!!! Happy Happy Birthday!
